 virtuALBA is a centre-of-expertise in the application and use of virtual worlds and Web 2.0 technologies to support educational and commercial activities.

People

 virtuALBA is led by Dr. Daniel Livingstone, a lecturer in Computer Games Technology, and an active researcher and participant in virtual worlds. He has been particularly active in organising events for educational users of virtual worlds including:

 Daniel is also a co-founder of the Sloodle project, a major open-source project which aims to provide a rich toolset for integrating web-based and virtual-world based educational support.

In Second Life, Daniel's avatar is Buddy Sprocket.


 Peter Bloomfield is a graduate of the Computer Games Technology degree program at the University of the West of Scotland, and a talented programmer and developer. Peter was responsible for much of the development of the virtuALBA web-site, Second Life presence and many of the interactive scripts which virtuALBA uses to share data between web-based and virtual-world clients. From August 2007, Peter will be working full time on the Sloodle project.

Peter is known in Second Life as Pedro McMillan.


 Patch Lamington is a resident of Second Life, noted for his distinctive and playful style. Patch has developed a range of consumer items within Second Life, and has gained a great deal of in-world experience in the two years since joining the community. Patch also maintains his own web-presence, albeit somewhat more tongue-in-cheek: www.doodle-it.net.
